American Heart Month raises critical awareness about cardiovascular health, emphasizing prevention through healthy lifestyles and supportive communities, like Spring Hills, which offers a continuum of care to foster heart health among its residents.
Each February, we celebrate American Heart Month. Why is this important? According to the CDC, Cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death. Most middle-aged and young adults have one or more risk factors for heart disease, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or being a smoker or overweight. Having multiple risk factors increases your risk for heart disease. One person dies every 36 seconds in the United States from cardiovascular disease and approximately 655,000 Americans die from heart disease each year—that’s 1 in every 4 deaths. Understanding your heart, how it functions and the best ways to keep it healthy will help you Live Happy, longer.
They say, people who have close relationships at home, work, or in their community tend to be healthier and live longer. Feeling connected with others and having positive, close relationships benefit our overall health, including our reducing your blood pressure. Having people in our lives who motivate and care for us helps elevate feelings of companionship.
